Please note that all sessions require independent prep work prior to the session. There will be 8-10 hours of synchronous engagement and the remaining hours, while guided, are self/team-directed.

    Friday, January 12 Introduction to Planetary Health Concepts Part 1

    Explore key planetary health concepts and framework

    The first two sessions will provide learners with a foundational knowledge of planetary health and understanding of the role healthcare providers play in addressing the climate crisis. We will introduce conceptual frameworks that will be used throughout the program — starting with the process of community-building and collectively establishing a value system for collaborative learning and action.

    Friday, January 26 A Wicked Problem: Root Causes, Barriers to Action, and Opportunities for Intervention

    Readings + Group based exercise

    Teams will grapple with the complexity of the planetary health challenge. Structured and creative activities will guide teams through cognitive and emotional processing of the crisis, and the opportunities it provides.

    Friday, February 9 Introduction to Planetary Health Concepts Part 2

    Review frameworks, opportunities and barriers for intervention and ethics.

    The first two sessions will provide learners with a foundational knowledge of planetary health and understanding of the role healthcare providers play in addressing the climate crisis.     Friday, February 23 Spheres and Levers: Identifying Your Team’s Spheres of Influence and Points of Leverage

    Readings + Group based exercise

    A guided exercise will help teams identify their unique positions within the planetary health crisis through SWOT analysis. Teams will consider which agents of change lie within their spheres of influence, and how unique strengths of their team members can be leveraged to motivate change.

    Friday, March 8 Cultivating Imagination, Relationships, and Reciprocity

    Group based presentation

    In this gathering, we will cultivate our community of practice by sharing possibilities and opportunities. Through a hope-centered lens, teams will present their preliminary analysis with space for formative feedback within, and between, teams.

    JFriday, March 22 Preparing for Action

    Readings + Group based exercise

    Using evidence-based frameworks for strategy, creation, and evaluation, teams will apply analysis and feedback from previous sessions to create a viable plan for planetary health action within their roles as healthcare providers.

    Friday, April 5 Taking Action Together

    Group based presentation

    In our closing session, we will secure our community of practice through a plenary of action plans and a shared reflection on the experience of the program. We will leave prepared for ongoing collaboration and connection — including amplifying and elevating all planned actions.
